The Fusion Band bags this award for their current album, 'This Moment'. 'This Moment' marks a significant milestone as it is the group's first new album in over 45 years. The album boasts eight new compositions by the talented lineup comprising John McLaughlin (guitar, guitar synth), Zakir Hussain (tabla), Shankar Mahadevan (vocalist), V Selvaganesh (percussionist), and Ganesh Rajagopalan (violinist).
In a photo uploaded to the Grammys' official X (formerly known as Twitter) account, Mahadevan and another band member, Ganesh Rajagopalan, are shown on stage receiving the prize. "Happy to announce 'This Moment' Shakti as the winner of the Best Global Music Album. #GRAMMYs," the Grammy said.
Mahadevan expressed gratitude to God, family, friends, and India, expressing pride in their achievements, and dedicated the award to his wife, whom he dedicates every note of his music.
