Ganesh Festival comes to end with immersion of Lord Ganesh idols

Chhatrapati Sambhaijnagar: Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Municipal Corporation has made arrangements at more than ten various places for immersion of the Lord Ganesh Idols in the city and around the city on the occasion of Anantha Chaturdasi.
 
The ten-day-long Ganesh festival comes to an end this evening with the immersion of Lord Ganesh idols across the state.
 
Security has been beefed up in the Marathwada region to avert any untoward incidents during the Ganesh idol immersion on Thursday.
 
In Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, the main immersion procession will start this afternoon on a peaceful note under heavy security with Mahaarthi at the traditional Sansthan Ganesh temple, which is known as the city's Gramdaivat and is situated in the old city.
 
As per tradition, Sansthan Ganesh Temple Ganesh idols for immersion are first in procession to honor, followed by other mandal idols.
 
Several programs, including dhol compilations, wrestling, Bhandaras (free meals for all), Bhajan and kirtans, dramas, blood donations, competitions, culture programmes, and quizzes, were organized during the festival days by the apex body of Ganesh Mahasangh and other Ganesh mandals in and around the city.
 
The city police have set fixed points in different parts of the city, including the Hudco-Cidco areas. CCTV cameras have been installed on the routes of the city and Cidco Ganesh idols immersion procession, police sources said.
 
More than 2500 security personnel, including mobile cars, vans, and officers, have been alerted to ensure that the procession is peaceful.
 
Police commissioner Manoj Lohia will be keeping a close watch on movements in the city during the procession, which is due to take place in a few hours.
 
There will be DCPs, ACPs, PIs, APIs-PSIs, companies of SRPF and CRPF, home guards, and constabulary staffers moving with the immersion procession, police added.
 
Reports from the rest of the districts said security had been similarly beefed up for the immersion of Lord Ganesha in the region.
 
Lakhs of devotees in the city and the Marathwada region will bid Lord Ganesh Adieu this evening, with the 10-day-long festival coming to an end. (UNI)
