30 kg of drugs worth Rs 90 crore seized in Madurai Railway Station, Chennai man arrested

Chennai: In a major haul, officials of the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence on Friday seized 30 kg of methamphetamine valued at over Rs 90 crore, at the Madurai Railway Station and arrested a man, hailing from Chennai in this connection.

Police aid, acting on a tip-off, DRI officials tracked a suspect travelling in the Shengottah-bound Pothigai Express from Chennai.

With the help of the Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel, the DRI officials detained him when he came out of the station.

The officials seized two bags from his possession in which they found 30 kg of the narcotic drug, methamphetamine, which was valued at over Rs 90 crore.

After preliminary questioning, he was arrested.

A probe is on to ascertain the source of the drugs, from whom it was bought and the destination it was meant for.
