Andhra Pradesh: Youth held for seducing girl in name of love, sent to remand

Kakinada: The Katrenikona police have arrested Sape Nagaraju of Uppudi village on the charge of seducing a girl from Donthikurru village in Katrenikona mandal, luring her in the name of love, and sexually assaulting her.
 
The 21-year-old Nagaraju was produced before the Mummidivaram Judicial first-class magistrate court on Monday, which remanded him to fourteen days of judicial custody, police said.
 
Giving out the details of the arrest to the media, M. Ambika Prasad, DSP Amalapuram, said the accused and the victim both belong to the same community and have been in love for the past two years.
 
When the girl insisted on marriage, he disowned her.
 
The girl lodged a complaint along with evidence on October 13, and SIT Srinivas has registered a case of rape and cheating.
 
The Mummidivaram circle inspector, N. Kondaiah, investigated the case. Despite being counseled in the presence of elders, the accused refused to marry her, and as such, he was arrested and sent to remand.
 
The DSP said and warned that if anyone indulges in atrocities against girls, taking advantage of their innocence, stringent action will be initiated against them. (UNI)
