Slain Inspector Incharge’s mother could not bear death of her son, breathed her last

Purnia: The mother of the slain Inspector in charge of Kishanganj Town Police Station Ashwini Kumar could not bear the pain of her son’s lynching in West Bengal and breathed her last on Sunday. 

The last journey of both mother and son would be held together.

Mr Kumar who had gone to Pantpada village under Goalpokhar police station area in the adjoining West Bengal district on Saturday morning to recover a stolen motorcycle and for the arrest of an accused was lynched to death by the villagers.

The mother of the slain officer who was not informed about the death of her son came to know about the incident after the body of the slain officer arrived at his native place in Panchu Mandal Tola under the jankipur police station area.

The mother of the officer who was also suffering from some heart ailments could not bear the pain of the death of her son and died immediately.

The mortal remains of both mother and son would be consigned to flames this afternoon in the village.

The father of the slain officer had passed away 7 years ago. The family of the snail officer who is survived by his wife Minu Snehalatha and three children lived in a rented house at Hanuman Nagar of Kankarbagh in Patna.

Meanwhile zonal Inspector general of Purnia suspended 7 police personal who had escaped from the spot to save their lives leaving Ashwani Kumar trapped in the crowd which lynched had him to death.

Official sources said here today that the team led by Ashwani Kumar which had gone for a raid at Pantpada village under Goalpokhar police station area in the adjoining West Bengal had Inspector Manish Kumar, constables Raju Sahani, Akhileshwar Tiwari, Pramod Kumar Paswan, Ujjwal Kumar Paswan, Sunil Choudhary and Sushil Kumar as team members.

The relatives of the accused including a crowd of 500 people attacked the police team and caught Ashwani Kumar. The crowd lynched him to death, the sources informed adding that had the other 7 members of the police team discharged their duties properly, the incident could have been averted.

Prima facie all the seven police personnel guilty of dereliction their duties and were suspended following the recommendation of the police superintendent of Kishanganj Kumar Ashish.

The sources said that three accused namely Firoz Alam, the main accused, his brother Abuzar Alam and his mother Sahinoor Khatoon were arrested in connection with the lynching of the police officer.

Earlier when the team had visited Pantpada village for conducting a raid, the criminals spread the rumours that the Bihar police had visited West Bengal to tamper with the election.

Following this, the crowd attacked the police team and lynched Ashwani Kumar to death.

Meanwhile, sources at the state headquarters said that the kith of the slain officer would be paid the Ex-gratia, services benefits and government job would be given to one of the eligible dependents. (UNI)
