Indian Skipper Virat Kohli is slipping in the ICC test ranking of the batsman after every updation. It has been more than a year a century was scored from his bat. The top-notch batsman now finds him in the bottom of "Fab four" in fact he now stands on the fifth rank just above the immensely talented Pakistani batsman Babar Azam.
England skipper Joe Root's double ton has propelled him to 3rd rank. Now He is only behind Aussie batsman Steve Smith and Newzealand captain Kane Williamson who are ranked second and first respectively. Along with Joe the might all-rounder Ben stokes too made a gain of a rank.

While Cheteshwar Pujara finds himself at 7th place despite scoring a fighting 73 in the first innings vs England.  Shubhmann Gill and Rishabh Pant also surged in the ICC test rankings due to half-centuries scored in the second and first innings.

However Virat Kohli also scored 73 in the second innings against England before being castled by Ben stokes but he could not catch up to Joe Root, whose double century helped him leapfrogged in the rankings. Kohli's ranking would have been worse had Babar Azam got 2 decent scores vs South Africa in the recently concluded test series. Thanks to Keshav Maharaj who got him leg before wicket thrice. (WD)
