Mumbai: Riding on the strong buzz around the film, performances by Akshay Kumar and Illeana D’Cruz and its taut storyline, ‘Rustom’ has evoked an excellent response at the box office, earning over Rs 90 crore in its opening week from across the country, trade sources said today.
The film, which earned Rs 68 crore in its opening weekend, remained steady during the weekdays, collecting Rs 90.

The film has surpassed the total earnings of ‘Neerja’ , ‘Baaghi’ and ‘Fan’, becoming the fourth highest grosser of 2016, trade sources said.‘Rustom’ is currently the seventh highest grossing of Akshay.Written by Vipul K Rawal, directed by Tinu Suresh Desai and produced by Neeraj Pandey, ‘Rustom is based on the real life incident of Naval Officer K M Nanavati and his trial for his murder of businessman Prem Ahuja for having an affair with his wife.The film has drawn crowds ever since its release on August 12.
