Shimla: Expressing anger over the statement regarding Indian Independence, NSUI activists raised slogans outside Kangana's house in her hometown Manali on Saturday.
NSUI lodged a protest against Kangana and activists affiliated to the Congress student wing sought her to apologize for the statement.
National Co-convener of NSUI Social Media Ajit Sharma said that thousands of Martyrs have laid their lives for the country's independence and it is very shameful that Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut is terming the 1947 independence a ‘begging’ by the freedom fighters.
He said that instead of paying her attention to her film world she is spoiling the atmosphere in the country by making such controversial statements.
Mr Sharma demanded that Kangana Ranaut should apologize for her statement and at the same time, the Padma Shri award conferred to her should be withdrawn.
In the past, Kangana Ranaut had given few other controversial statements about the farmers and against the Bollywood town which was being condemned on social media and other platforms widely, NSUI leader said. (UNI)
