Mumbai: It is confirmed, Tubelight has fallen flat on its face. It is an upset as a Salman Khan movie has failed on the box office after 7 years, that too on Eid. Last time Salman’s and Zarine starrer Veer had slumped at box-office, since then Salman has delivered blockbuster consequtively. We will analyze what went wrong with the tubelight and the reason behind low collections.
1) Repetitive storyline
Bajrangi Bhaijan had a well crafted story directed by Kabir Khan. However, in a hussle to release the movie next Eid, Kabir just co-related the plot of the Indo Pak relationship to that of Indo China. He casted Matin this time similar to Harshaali (Munni) in Bajrangi Bhaijaan. The Audience felt as if they are watching Chinese version of Bajrangi Bhaijaan.
2) Feeble Script
The script of the movie fails to impress the critics and the audience. The lead actor Laxman (Salman) is shown as Tubelight (sometime weird sometime wise). The repetition of “Yakeen Hai” dialogues has made the movie monotonous. The scene of earthquake looks impractical and hilarious. There is no sign of entertainment in the movie which is considered the strength of Salman’s movie.
3) Cry Baby Salman
In every movie Salman has been portrayed as a hunk fighting the shit out of his enemies. But in Tubelight, audience completely rejected a cry baby Salman. In the movie, Salman was slapped hard by Md. Zeeshan Ayubb, how can Bhai fans tolerate it?
4) No Heroine, No Romance
The heroine of Salman in this movie is a Chinese actress Zhu Zhu. She was completely unknown to the Indian audience. There is no romantic scene of Salman and Zhu Zhu in the movie, which has made movie more cumbersome.
5) Kabir Khan disappoints
Someone on Twitter rightly said, it is Kabir Khan who has disappointed, since Salman is consistent with his bad acting. Kabir had everything, big budget, resources, a star like Salman, still he failed to deliver. He contributed to the script which displayed his immaturity. The characters of the movie were stereotyped and looked unrealistic.
6) Inflated ticket prices
The attempt to surpass the mammoth collection of “Baahubali the conclusion” backfired for Salman. Inflated ticket prices were sold at cinemas, at some places the surge was 50 percent. The moment film received negative reviews and bad mouth publicity, peoples dropped the plan to watch the movie on a high cost.
7) Music, set, acting was below par
Not a single song of the movie managed to enter the chartbusters. The sets looked fake. While Salman delivered his worst ever performance on the big screen as an actor. (WD)
