Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan was stabbed multiple times by an intruder at his and actress Kareena Kapoor's Bandra residence in Mumbai, is on the road to recovery and his condition is stable, while the accused involved in the robbery attempt has been identified by the Police.
In her statement, Jeh's nanny, Eliyama Philip said, the intruder was spotted at Jeh's room first.
Eliyama said she was sleeping in Jeh's room and woke up at around 2 am when she heard a sound and spotted something moving inside the room and thought it to be Kareena. But, then she saw a man's shadow near the bathroom door, wearing a cap. She hurried to Jeh's side to shield him. The intruder signaled for her silence by pressing a finger to his lips.
She told the police that when she asked him what he wanted, the accused demanded Rs 1 crore money. In the scuffle, he attacked her with the blade and she injured her wrist.
Eliyama said the intruder was around 40 years old. She said Saif and Kareena rushed out of their room hearing her screams. When Saif tried to confront the intruder, he was attacked multiple times.
The attacker was seen in CCTV footage escaping through the fire exit staircase.
Khan along with his family, wife Karena Kapoor and two sons Taimur and Jeh, lives in 'Satguru Sharan' building at the 12th floor.
Injured Khan was admitted to Lilavati Hospital at 3.30 am, Dr Neeraj Uttmani, Chief Operating Officer of the Hospital told media persons.
Saif Ali Khan was brought to Lilavati (hospital) at 3.30 am. He has six stab wounds of which two are deeper. One of the injury is closer to his spine,” Uttamani further said.
Dr Nitin Dange, who performed surgery said that Khan had six stab wounds of which two are deeper. He had sustained a major injury to his "thoracic spine while surgery was performed to remove the knife and also to repair the leaking spinal fluid.
"Khan is completely stable now. He is in recovery mode and is completely out of danger," Dr Dange added.
