The division bench of Justice Sangeeta Chandra and Justice Brijraj Singh passed the order on the petition of Jai Vardhan Shukla. The court, ignoring the objections raised in the petition, said that it has seen three official trailers/teasers of the said film, but found nothing objectionable in them, requiring court's intervention.
The court said that the lyrics of a song from the film 'Bhai Vakeel Hai' were also seen and nothing was found against real-life lawyers.
It was argued on behalf of the petitioner that the trailer and songs of the film are being widely circulated on YouTube and social media, which is damaging the image of advocates and adversely affecting the judiciary.
The film series has shown a negative image of lawyers, which is turning people away from this profession and disillusionment is being created among law students.
While opposing the petition, Deputy Solicitor General SB Pandey argued that the petition is not even maintainable because the petitioner did not make a representation to any competent authority against the film and directly filed a petition, which is dismissible.
