Baahubali-2 shatters records, first week worldwide collections cross Rs 1000 cr mark

Mumbai: Filmmaker S S Rajamouli’s blockbuster movie 'Baahubali-2 became the first Indian film to achieve the rare feat of collections touching past the Rs 1000 crore at the box office worldwide.

The glorious journey of 'Baahubali-2' started on 28 April with the film hitting the screens in four versions, Tamil, Telugu, Hindi and Malayalam.The movie has beaten virtually the records in all the languages and has now become the biggest box office hit of all-time in India.In fact, the film has shattered the lifetime records of biggies like 'PK' and 'Dangal' in just a week.

The much-awaited multi-crore film was released in 9,000 screens across the world, a record for an Indian film.(6,500 screens in India, 1,400 in US and the remaining 1,100 in the rest of the world).

According to trade analysts, Baahubali-2 collections touched Rs 800 crore in Indian market and over Rs 200 crore abroad.The movie stars Prabhas, Rana Daggubati, Anushka, Tamannaah, Nasser, Ramya Krishnan and Sathyaraj in pivotal roles.

Meanwhile, a thrilled Prabhas, who donned the title role, shot off an emotional letter thanking Rajamouli for giving him the opportunity to be part of the movie.He wrote in his letter, ‘I have tried my best I am truly overwhelmed with everything.

The journey of Baahubali has been a long one but among the few things that I will take away from this, is the love and affection of my fans and well-wishers.
