Seoul: Jin of KPop supergroup BTS will soon leave for France to participate in the Paris Olumpic torch relay on July 27, to spread the message of peace and friendship, sources in the music industry confirmed to Yonhap news agency.

The netizens and fans (ARMY) around the world are extremely proud and are sharing their enthusiasm. The exact location and schedule for his participation have not been disclosed yet.

The reason for the BTS vocalist's involvement in the torch relay has not been revealed, but it could likely stem from the group's global popularity and its decade-long message of "Love Yourself".

In 2024, around 11,000 torchbearers will have this privilege and share a positive message full of enthusiasm: "The Games have arrived in France!".

Before the 1970s only famous sportspersons could bear the torch, but according to Olympics.com, a person who has contributed to the society's sustainability and welfare can also carry the flame. These torchbearers are selected based on their commitment, dedication and how they embody at least one of the core tenets of Paris 2024, the website said.

Jin, 31, completed his mandatory military service in June, becoming the first BTS member to do so.

He is reportedly preparing to make an appearance on a TV variety show on the MBC channel in the second half of this year, marking his first official comeback into the entertainment industry since his enlistment in December 2022.

"The Astronaut" singer is also gearing up to release a new single in the second half. In a recent message to fans on community platform Weverse, Jin expressed his excitement to be back in action.

"I'm working on recording music and filming variety shows," he wrote. "I'm trying to focus on my main job while showing my face as much as possible. The results will be out in a few months, so please wait a little longer."

He, however, ruled out any plans to venture into acting for the time being. "I don't have any plans to act. Sorry about that," he said.
