Mumbai: Bollywood actor Pankaj Tripathi's gripping courtroom drama "Criminal Justice: A Family Matter" has taken taken the Indian streaming landscape by storm and has achieved the biggest opening ever in the Hindi Original category with 84 lakh views on the first day, according to media analytics firm Ormax.
Within hours of its release on JioHotstar, the show became the most watched content for any Hindi special and was recognised as a cultural and digital phenomenon.
Co-produced by Applause Entertainment and BBC Studios India, and directed by Rohan Sippy, the series debuted on May 29 with three episodes. The subsequent parts were released weekly.
Returning as the sagacious yet deeply empathetic advocate Madhav Mishra, Pankaj Tripathi delivers another layered performance. This season also stars Mohammad Zeeshan Ayyub, Surveen Chawla, Asha Negi, Khushboo Atre, Barkha Singh, Mita Vashisht and Shweta Basu Prasad.
