Mumbai: Veteran Bollywood actor Dalip Tahil has backed Telugu filmstar Mahesh Babu amid a controversy over his remark.
The "Athadu" actor has been grabbing headlines after he said "Bollywood can’t afford me" amid a raging controversy over Bollywood v/s Southern cinemas.
From Dalip Tahil's experience of working in south Indian films, he told a daily that "it is a far better oiled machinery". "That way, it will be difficult for Mahesh Babu to come and work in Hindi films."
Lauding the work ethic of the South, Tahil said South Indian cinema was overall a lot better organized, with personal investment in the scripts by directors and producers and the decision-making is a lot more smoother.
Adding that he meant no disrespect to the Hindi film industry, the veteran actor sounded hopeful as he added that things in Mumbai were improving.
Previously writing in Mahesh Babu'ss support, Tahil had tweeted “In my humble opinion, when @urstrulyMahesh (south megastar) says Hindi movies cannot afford him, he is most likely referring to the work ethic, where I completely agree with him.. more strength to Mahesh Babu.”
The actor was last seen in Netflix’s latest film, “Toolsidas Junior". (UNI)
