Aamir Khan recently visited Murshidabad in West Bengal, where he met singer Arijit Singh and shared a photo with him on social media. Following the meeting, speculation grew that Aamir had gone to persuade Arijit to reconsider his decision to retire from playback singing. Aamir has now revealed what actually transpired between them.
What Did Aamir Khan and Arijit Singh Discuss?
In an interview with journalist Subhash K. Jha, Aamir clarified that he did not visit Murshidabad to convince Arijit to withdraw his retirement announcement. However, he admitted that he did ask the singer to reconsider his decision.
“I was in Murshidabad few days ago. I was not there to convince Arijit not to quit singing for films,” Aamir said. “I was there for another purpose. Though I did try my best to convince him to reconsider, but in vain. He seems to have made up his mind.”
What Did Aamir Convince Arijit Singh About?
Explaining the real purpose of his visit, Aamir said he went to Murshidabad to discuss music for his son Junaid Khan’s upcoming film Ek Din. “I was there for his rendering of Ek Din songs. I convinced him to sing for my sake. He is singing for Junaid’s character,” Aamir revealed.
He further explained that Arijit had committed to the project before announcing his retirement, which is why he agreed to sing for the film. “Since Ek Din was an earlier commitment, he wanted to complete it. Ek Din has five songs, and he sings in all of them,” Aamir added.
Aamir Khan Praises Arijit Singh
Aamir also showered praise on Arijit Singh and his talent. “He is such a talent!!! And such a lovely person! Had such a memorable time with him, his family and his team. He has absolutely nailed the songs!!! Such a talent!!! And so sad for films and all of us who are his fans,” Aamir said.
Ek Din, produced under the Aamir Khan Productions banner, is directed by Sunil Pandey and produced by Aamir Khan, Mansoor Khan, and Aparna Purohit. The film is scheduled to release in theatres on May 1, 2026.
