Mumbai: Bollywood’s 'serial kisser' has long shed his old image, and his latest transformation proves it yet again. Emraan Hashmi is all set to play a fearless BSF officer in 'Ground Zero', and fans got their first real glimpse of his intense new look this week.
On Thursday, Hashmi dropped the film’s character poster, where he stands armed with a gun, exuding a no-nonsense, battle-ready attitude. But that wasn’t all — he also announced that the teaser would be released the next day. And sure enough, Friday brought the first thrilling footage from 'Ground Zero', which promises to be a gripping war drama inspired by real events.
Catch the teaser here:
Directed by Tejas Deoskar, 'Ground Zero' is based on a remarkable operation by the Border Security Force (BSF). Hashmi plays BSF Deputy Commandant Narendra Nath Dubey, the man who spearheaded a two-year-long hunt for a top terrorist mastermind.
The teaser showcases a high-stakes battle set in Kashmir, opening with a chilling warning from the terror group Jaish-e-Mohammed to the Indian Prime Minister. What follows is an attack on Indian soldiers, with a grim revelation—70 troops have been gunned down.
Stepping into the chaos, Emraan Hashmi’s character embarks on a relentless pursuit of the enemy. The film highlights the 2003 operation that led to the elimination of Ghazi Baba, a notorious terrorist. In recognition of his bravery, Dubey was awarded the Kirti Chakra in 2005 by then-President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam.
The teaser ends with a powerful question from Hashmi’s character: "Sirf Kashmir ki zameen humaari hai ya yahan ke log bhi?" (Does only the land of Kashmir belong to us, or do its people belong to us too?)
Fans won’t have to wait too long—'Ground Zero' is set to hit theatres on April 25, 2025.
Hashmi was last seen playing the antagonist Aatish Rehman in 'Tiger 3', opposite Salman Khan. But he’s not slowing down anytime soon. The actor has a packed lineup with 'Awarapan 2' and 'Goodachari 2' also in the pipeline.
