Chennai: Taking up cudgels against thespian Kamal Haasan's first reality show 'Bigg Boss' being aired on Vijay TV, the Hindu Makkal Katchi today demand a ban on the show and the arrest of the actor, who said he was ready to face arrest.

The HMK today filed a petition with the Chennai City police contending that the reality show tarnishes tamil culture. The show, being hosted by Kamal Haasan, was being aired from June 25. The HMK said the participants were shown making fun of Tamil Thaai Vazhthu. The participants and the host should be arrested and the programme must not be aired anymore, it said.

HMK State secretary Veera Manickam Shiva, who filed the plea, also said in the complaint that the programme shows inappropriate contents and usage of obscene language. Reacting to the criticisms and opposition by the Hindu outfit, Kamal Haasan said he was prepared to get arrested. ''I don't mind being arrested'', he told a TV channel.

He also countered by asking whether the cheer leaders, who dance in IPL cricket, whenever a boundary or sixer was hit, should be arrested. Terming the accusations against him as silly, he said the Hindutva group has mistaken him for a communist. ''But the truth is that I am a rationalist'', he added. He said ''I am growing new skin now''. (UNI)
