IIFA Awards 2017: Udta Punjab fetches award for Alia and Shahid

Mumbai: The 18TH IIFA awards were aired on the small screen on 16th July 2017. The movie based on the nexus of drug Mafia and administration in Punjab fetched best actor award to Shahid Kapoor and Best actress to Alia Bhatt. While Neerja bagged the best movie award for year 2016.
The best director award was handed over to Aniruddh Roy Choudhri for critically acclaimed movie “Pink”. The best actor in a comic role was given to Varun Dhawan for movie “Dhishoom”. While the best actor in a negative role was given to Jim Surb for Neerja. Karan Johar’s “Ae Dil Hai Mushkil” ruled the roost in awards of Music category. Pritam bagged best music director for the film. Amit Mishra was given the best playback singer award for the song “Bulleya”. Anupam Kher and Shabana Azmi received best actor/actress in supporting role for “MS Dhoni: the untold story” and “Neerja”. Disha Patani was declared as best debut actress for “MS Dhoni: the untold story” while the Diljeet was given the best actor award for the same category. A R Rahman was given a special award for completing 25 years in Bollywood. (WD)
