New Delhi: Two films of Public Service Broadcasting Trust - Janani's Juliet and Moti Bagh go to the Oscars as direct entries on winning awards at a Film festival designated by The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences of America, Rajiv Mehrotra, Managing Trustee of the PSBT said on Friday.
Janani's Juliet by Pankaj Rishi Kumar is critical reflection on caste, class and gender, through a theatrical adaption of Romeo and Juliet to the story of Kausalya and Shankar while Moti Bagh by Nirmal Chander is the story of 83-year-old Vidyadutt Sharma trying to keep his land alive in a fast-decimating Himalayan village, he said.
Mr Mehrotra further informed that as part of PSBT's annual Open Frame Film Festival which will kick off today, Moti Bagh will be shown this evening and Janani's Juliet tomorrow at the India International Centre Auditorium here.
PSBT is a Delhi-based not-for-profit, established in partnership with Prasar Bharti in 2000. It works to empower independent filmmakers, democratising access to the media and encouraging freedom of expression.(UNI)
