Chennai: South Indian film actress Trisha Krishnan, who is set to appear in the upcoming pan-Indian film "Thug Life", recently spoke about her admiration for Kamal Haasan's unwavering passion and infectious zeal for the craft of cinema.
At the launch of the first track 'Jinguchcha' from the film "Thug Life" recently, Trisha reflected on her experience working once again with cinematic legends Kamal Haasan and Mani Ratnam.
Trisha, who collaborated with Ratnam for the two-part epic "Ponniyin Selvan", said the two stalwarts of Indian cinema have a "certain aura" around them.
"You're always a little bit awestruck... What I admire and respect about both of them and I've had the privilege to do three films with each of them... They make sure they burst that bubble (of being awestruck with them). There's a comfort that I probably share with Mani sir and Kamal sir that I may not actually share with a fellow contemporary also because they make sure they burst that bubble.
"We do so much of rehearsals, homework and to be very honest with the body of work I've done, when I have worked with Mani sir and Kamal sir, these are the films I think I have spent more rehearsal days than shooting days (sic)."
Speaking about her reunion with Silambarasan TR, her co-star from the cult class Vinnaithaandi Varuvayya", Trisha shared "After 'VTV', everyone asked when Simbu and I would be coming together. You will be seeing some magic in this film."
Simbu called Kamal Haasan his 'Guru' and revealed his excitement to be a part of this project working with him and filmmaker Mani Ratnam. "This film is like a dream. Generally, with Mani sir, we watch movies and want to be a part of his films. Rahman sir, his music, Kamal sir my on-screen guru. So, Ravi K. sir, everybody, we used to watch their movies and feel like, one day, we should be a part of their film. So this is like all of them together in one film. That is really surreal."
On working with Trisha, he stated I am happy to be reuniting with Trisha in a film that is so drastically different from ‘Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa'."
It is worth noting that the film Thug Life is jointly produced by Raj Kamal Films International, Madras Talkies and Red Giant Movies. The film is musically crafted by legendary musician AR Rahman. The film "Thug Life" marks a monumental collaboration between three cinematic stalwarts Mani Ratnam, Kamal Haasan and AR Rahman for the first time.
The film features actors from Malayalam, Hindi and Telugu cinema, making it one of the most ambitious multi-starrer films of Indian cinema.
Produced by Kamal Haasan, Mani Ratnam, R. Mahendran and Shiva Ananth, Thug Life stars Kamal Haasan, Silambarasan TR, Trisha, Nasser, Abhirami, Joju George, Ashok Selvan, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Mahesh Manjrekar, Ali Fazal, Vaiyapuri and others in lead roles. The film is set to release worldwide on June 5, 2025.
