Bengaluru:Rishab Shetty's Kantara has been on a roll at the box office ever since the flick was released in Hindi version too. It has added yet another feather in its hat by selling one 1 crore tickets in Karnataka.
The film has grossed Rs 350 crore plus collection at the box office, which is remarkable because it was made well under Rs 16 crore. The film also has been made in Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam versions.
Kantara is a film woven in Indian tradition and culture, which delivers a smashing message that nature belongs to everyone and all are equal. The film is also inspired by an ancient sacred text which talks about Varahamurthy marrying Bhoodevi and promising to protect her from any problem.
The text also talks about two characters Panjurli, who is Varahamurthy and Guliga Daiva, a form of Lord Shiva.Shetty makes his father parallel to Varahamurthy and Bhoodevi to mother nature which is being neglected by Devendra, the villain in the film, who wants to occupy it.
Hence Shetty, who is playing the role of a human character of Shiva becomes Guliga Daiva towards the end to protect the nature of the intentions of his father who is Panjurli.
After fulfilling the objective of protecting nature, Shiva unites with his father and leaves behind another protector in the form of the forest officer, rather the government.
Kantara's cast includes Kishore, Achyuth Kumar, Pramod Shetty, and Naveen D Padil among others. It is produced by Vijay Kiragandur under Hombale Films, the banner behind the KGF franchise.(UNI)
