Lata Mangeshkar’s demise means end of an era. Her voice, songs, demeanour, and smile ruled the world. There can be no one like her. The Government of India had announced two-day national mourning in memory of the legendary singer. The never-ending list of melodious songs will stay on; she will live within us all forever. Celebrities talk about their love for her, how much they are going to miss her. They also share their favourite song of the Nightingale of India, how much they relate to it:

Aly Goni: Lata Mangeshkarji was a living legend. Her plenty of songs were picturized in Jammu and Kashmir. I love her duet with Kishore Kumar- dekha ek khawb toh ye silsiley hue.

Chitra Vakil Sharma: Growing up as a teen, Shahrukh had become a sensation, and with the song Tujhe Dekha Toh Yeh Jaana Sanam...Shahrukh in that jacket, the hat with a feather, armed with a Mandolin and stretching his arms wide in a Sarson (mustard) field.. well my heart skipped a beat every time. The song was about the union of love and Latajis voice embodied the feelings of a young teen so perfectly that I related to it and heard it a zillion times. When I still hear it, the song transports me back to the days of innocence of a teenage girl. I am blessed to have lived in a period when Lataji sang, a glorious period for music and cinema.

Nupur Joshi: It is a gem lost forever. Lata ji is one of the finest voices India ever had. She has sung songs, not just in Hindi but various different languages, picking single special is beyond difficult, one of my favourite song of hers is 'Kahin na ja aaj kahin matt ja'. Bhaavpoorn Shradhanjali

Charrul Malik: ‘Ajeeb dastan hai yeh, kahan shuru kahan khatam’, we used to sing it ‘jab hum chote the’.  Lata Ji songs aren’t just songs, they soothe our souls. Unki awaaz me jo apnapan hai woh shabdo me bayan nahi kiya jaa sakta.  We have all grown up listening to her songs. She has a song for every emotion, every important moment of her life. There is probably no song of Lata Ji that has not connected with something or the other in our lives. Celebrations are incomplete without her songs. Unke jaisa na koi tha na koi hoga.

Muskan Verma: This is the most shocking and sad news for me this year. Lata Ji remains the most beloved voice of India and will always be immortal in every Indian heart. Long live the Queen of Melody. For me Lata Ji is every Indian's favourite singer and I would hope that good singers like Arijit Singh and Shreya Ghoshal take forward Lata ji’s legacy. Miss you Lata ma’am.  I like Tere Liye from Veer Zara.

Rahul Bhatia: I absolutely love 'Tere liye' song from the film Veer Zara. I can totally relate to it because the song is all about love and sacrifice and I believe that at the end of the day, what matters the most in life is love. It shows love between an Indian man and a Pakistani woman indicating that love is beyond all the religious differences. The song is all about love, hope, acceptance, and peace, and this is what I advocate. Life is all about living for your loved ones and going through all the challenges for their happiness, which is perfectly reflected in this song. Putting the happiness of people you love first is what I have always followed.

Harjinder Singh: Lata ji was a legend and her voice will forever stay in my mind and soul. India has lost its true Bharat Ratna today and it’s a very sad day for all Indians wherever they may be. My heartfelt shradhaanjali to one of the great souls India has ever been privileged to host. My favourite song is ‘Lag Jaa Gale'

Rajender Singh Pahl: It was my dream to work with her but due to some reasons it couldn't happen though we had almost finalized the show.  I remember that the poster lineup was done but because of some reason, the show got cancelled. The pain of not being able to work with her will always be there. My favorite ones are Aye Mere Vatan Ke Logon and Tere Liye from Veer Zara are my top favourites.
