Mumbai: Aanand L Rai's 'Zero' starring Shah Rukh Khan Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma released on December 21. Expectations were high as the cast includes Stars of Bollywood - Shahrukh Khan, Anushka Sharma and Katrina Kaif.
The trailer was appreciated and the songs were equally liked indicating towards a great box office opening. 'Zero' presents the story of Bauua, a vertically challenged man essayed by Shah Rukh Khan. Set against the backdrop of Meerut, 'Zero' presents a unique as well as rooted story.
The multiplexes began the shows since morning. There was a large turnout, although the shows were not housefull anywhere. On the other hand, the number of viewers in the single screen cinemas was quite low compared to that of multiplexes which resulted into an average opening.
Despite negative critic and public review, Zero managed to open up with a 20.14 crore earning on the first day. As far as the budget is concerned the movie needs to gain momentum in the extended weekend, which looks highly unlikely. (WD)
