Marathi film industry celebrates 97th anniversary

Kolhapur: Akhil Bhartiya Marathi Chitrapat Mahamandal (All India Marathi Film Industry Corporation- AIMFIC) celebrated its 97th anniversary of Marathi film business by garlanding a statue of "Camera-Manstamb" at Khari corner area of the city this morning.Marathi film industry celebrates December 1 every year to mark the beginning of Marathi film industry in Kolhapur by "Kalamaharshree" late Baburao Painter on December 1, in 1919.

On this day late Painter used the camera for the first time to shoot the 'Marathi film' and also to mark the foundation anniversary of ever 'Maharashtra Marathi Film Company in Kolhapur.
On this occasion, special inspector general of Police Vishwas Nangare-Patil garlanded the statue of "Camera-Manstamb" and effigy of late Painter and late Anandrao Painter, promoter of Marathi film company, in the presence of Ms Vijaymala Painter, Ashok Painter, KMC corporator Ms Tejswini Ingavle.Meghraj Raje-Bhosale, ASMFIC president, Dhanaji Yemkar, Vice-president, Rannjeet Jadhav, Secretary, other office-bearers of AIMFIC, director board members and others were present on this occasion.(UNI)
