Pune: Marathi movie, 'Juna Furniture', which is based on senior citizens, is released across cinema halls in Maharashtra on April 26.

Addressing press conference here on Thursday, eminent actor and director of film Mahesh Manjrekar said that this film is based on elderly citizens, portraying how they face old life at certain age and depict the reality of the gap between two generations.

"Seniors in the house are often referred to as old furniture. Just as old furniture in a new house becomes outdated, mismatched, these seniors have a certain condition," he said.

Manjrekar said that parents are used practically in many homes today.

"NRI children call their parents at least once a month. But children living in the same city or living in the same house do not have time to call or meet their parents. In many homes, parents are referred to as old furniture," he said.

"Today, the share of elderly people in the household has reached a desperate state. Like old furniture, they are becoming cumbersome. We need to take a break and look at this obstacle once," he added.

The film is produced by Yatin Jadhav, Sathya Sai Films and Skyling Entertainment. Its story, screenplay, dialogues are written by Mahesh Manjrekar.

Directed by Mahesh Manjrekar, Juna Furniture stars Mahesh Manjrekar, Medha Manjrekar, Sachin Khedekar, Bhushan Pradhan.
