MeToo is about victory of right over wrong: Deepika Padukone

Mumbai: Amid the controversy generated by the Bollywood actress Tanushree Dutta's allegations against senior actor Nana Patekar,  actress Deepika Padukone said that the 'MeToo movement' is not just about gender but about the victory of right over wrong.
''MeToo movement is about the victory of right over wrong and should not be reduced to men versus women,'' Deepika said at the Hindustan times leadership summit here.

"Anyone who faces any kind of discrimination or any sort of abuse, I think we as people must support that person. It is not about a woman or a man or about female vs men. Let's not complicate or get confused in that conversation," she said.

Actor Ranveer Singh, who had accompanied Deepika to the event said, harassment anywhere and in any form is wrong.

"Harassment per se is just wrong. Harassment of anyone, women, men or any person being harassed is wrong, whether it is in the workplace, public place, street or at home. It is wrong. Right now there is something that has happened. There is all kind of speculation,'' Ranveer said.

"But if it has happened, then it takes a lot of courage for somebody to come out and speak about it. You know you have been through some very disturbing experience. It takes courage to speak publicly about it. Therefore you must consider what this person is saying... If it has happened, it is absolutely wrong and I condemn it emphatically," he said.

Both Ranveer and Deepika, however, dodged a question about their wedding.''Whenever it will happen, you'll be the first to know,'' 'Padmaavat' actor Ranveer Singh said.

While they didn't spill the beans on their wedding, they didn't deny it either. "When, where, you are reading that everyday in the news. My sherwani's colour, the wedding itinerary, the gifts that guests are going to give... Everything is decided. So you know all about it.

Our very enthusiastic friends in the media are not holding back and yeah, it's all out there. But when there is something, you all will be the first to know,'' Ranveer said."There were many November weddings... By the way, we have as per the media, been married several times,'' Deepika said.

''What all has not happened in our lives. We have been engaged multiple times, and this has been written about with such details that I find it very fascinating... Such creative writing that someone can write a script,'' Ranveer added.(UNI)
