Vivek Oberoi thanks SC for allowing the release of NaMo Biopic

New Delhi: Producer of 'PM Narendra Modi' Sandip Ssingh, Director Omung Kumar and protagonist Vivek Oberoi on Tuesday thanked the Supreme Court for the rejection of a petition filed by Indian National Congress spokesperson, Aman Panwar, seeking stay of the biopic, slated for release on April 11, Thursday.
Affirming that it could not decide on the basis of a two-minute trailer whether the biopic on Prime Minister Narendra Modi would influence voters, the apex court on Tuesday rejected a petition filed by Mr Panwar, seeking a stay on the release of the movie.
 
Taking to micro-blogging site Twitter, Director Omung Kumar said,'we thank everyone for their support and love, today we have won in the Supreme Court! And thank you Indian judiciary for upholding our faith in democracy #pmnarendramodi releases on 11th April 2019.'

Producer Sandip Ssingh said,'Thankful to the honourable Judicial System of India for the much deserved justice.Our film, 'PM Narendra Modi' to release on 11th April 2019.Jai Hind.#PMNarendraModi.'
 
Vivek Anand Oberoi said,'With all your blessings, support and love,today we have won in the Honorable Supreme Court! A humble thank you to all of you and to the Indian judiciary for upholding our faith in democracy! Thursday 11th April. Jai Hind#PMNarendraModiWins'.
The film, which was earlier scheduled for release on April 5, was postponed due to delay in clearance by the Censor board.
 
The movie had been embroiled in controversy with the opposition parties, including the Congress, have contended that the release of the film during the election period amounts to a violation of the model code of conduct.
 
Directed  by Omung Kumar, the movie traces Narendra Modi's evolution through  various phases of his life, including his enrollment in the Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh, his  long stint as Chief Minister of Gujarat, and his elevation to a national  role five years ago.(UNI)
