Once bitten twice shy, OTT in no mood to take risk after lackluster Laxmi

Akshay Kumar's film 'Lakshmi'  was released directly on the OTT platform instead of releasing it in theaters. It was the first incident when the movie of a big star was released directly on the OTT platform.
OTT has been the last hope for the producers as it reduces the loss if not increase the profit. Especially for the filmmakers who produce low budget films ,OTT has been a boon.

However, on November 9, Lakshmi was released on the OTT platform with a bang. There was a lukewarm response after the first day. Neither it was hailed by critics nor by the audience. OTT owners were disappointed as they did not get even 50 percent of the cost incurred to get the rights of Lakshmi.

As per the sources, now the major OTT platforms have decided that they will decide the deal only after a proper screening of the film. All important decisions will be taken after that. Whether to pay for the rights or not? If the movie is good enough to take the rights at which price. All this will be decided after the screening. This has come as a blow to the producers already battling the half-opened cineplexes.
