New Delhi: The decision by makers of the period drama 'Padmavati' to defer its theatrical release has caused a shake up in the film release calendar of Bollywood films in December with producers of many films scheduling their ventures during the month in a bid to get a good run at the box office .

While the delay in Padmavati 's release has caused producers of 'Tera Intezar' and 'Firangi ' to postpone their release by a week to ensure better box office returns for the films, the makers of 'Fukrey Returns' and 'Monsoon' have preponed the release of the films by a week to increase their chances at the ticket window. The postponement of 'Padmavati' has given a breather to the makers of Kapil Sharma starrer 'Firangi '. Trade sources said that the makers of the film always wanted to release the film on December 1 and it would give them a gap of two weeks from the release of the Vidya Balan-starrer 'Tumhari Sulu' , which has been creating a huge buzz among cinegoers.

However, due to 'Padmavati ' coming on December 1, the makers settled for November 24 as the release date as they did not want 'Firangi ' to come on the same day as the Deepika Padukone starrer. Now, with 'Padmavati' not coming on December 1, the producers have decided to shift the movie to December 1.

Set in the time of 1920 ,'Firangi ', which stars Kapil Sharma in the lead role, is an action-comedy that is directed by Rajie Dhingra. The movie will also star Monica Gill and Ishita Dutta. The movie will be produced under Kapil Sharma’s banner.

Like 'Firangi', the Sunny Leone-starrer 'Tera Intezar ' have also shifted its release to December 1.The film was scheduled for release on November 24 but now the movie will come on December 1 following shift in the date of Padmavati .'Tera intezaar' revolves around Raunak’s search for her love and the unbelievable mishaps that she encounters. The postponement of 'Padmavati ' has also witnessed a change in the release date of 'Fukrey Returns'.After the postponement of 'Padmavati', the makers of the film decided to prepone its release from December 15
to December 8.

Trade sources, however, say that the producers Excel Entertainment had earlier planned to release the film on December 8 as it would allow the film to get a two week free run before the release of the Salman Khan-starrer 'Tiger Zinda hai' . However, they shifted it to December 15 after 'Padmavati was scheduled for December 1.

In this sense, the movie will now release on its original date of December 8.Produced by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani and directed by Mrighdeep Singh Lamba, 'Fukrey Returns', a sequel of the earlier hit Fukrey, is a tale of four friends who will again do some jugaad to make it big.

The Nawazuddin Siddiqui starrer 'Monsoon Shootout ' is yet another film that has seen a change in its release date following postponement of 'Padmavati'.Having witnessed several delays, 'Monsoon Shootout ' was being planned for release on December 15.But, after the postponement of 'Padmavati ', it is now set for release on December 8.

Monsoon Shootout features Nawaz as a character with grey shades who takes to crime to get his job done. The film was also premiered in 2013 at Cannes and was nominated for the Golden Camera Award. The makers of 'Padmavati' had on Sunday decided to defer release of the film from its scheduled release date of December 1 following protests from the Rajput community. (UNI)
