Chandigarh: A Public Interest Litigation (PIL) has been filed in Punjab and Haryana High Court seeking a stay on the release of actor and BJP MP Kangna Ranaut's upcoming movie “Emergency" alleging that the erroneous projection of the Sikh community in the film may spark social unrest in Punjab, a lawyer said on Tuesday.
The petitioners urged the Court to stay the release of the movie as it could disturb the social fabric of Punjab. It has been.
Notably, many Sikh organisations including SGPC have raised doubts about the movie's intention.
The movie, in which Ranaut plays the character of late Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, is slated for September 6 release.
