Rajput Karni Sena demands nationwide ban on Padmavati

Mumbai: Rajput Karni Sena on Wednesday demanded pan India ban on the controversial movie Padmavati saying that the change in the name to 'Padmavat' or modifications in the movie would not be suffice to remove the 'distortions' in history regarding Queen Padmavati of Chittor.Lokendra Singh Kalvi of the Rajput Karni Sena alleged that there is a conspiracy going on to clear the movie and also dismissed rumors regarding the release date which was said to be 25th January. 'We will not keep mum and will hit the streets if the movie is cleared', Mr Kalvi said.
However, Mr Kalvi has called upon like-minded people and Rajput community to enforce a 'Janata Curfew' and boycott the film at the theaters on the release date.He further questioned the authenticity of CBFC panel to review the film stating that the CBFC misled us by saying that a team of historians reviewed the film while the truth is that not all of the panelists were historians.
Mr Kalvi said that CBFC had proposed nine historians in the panel but ended up calling only three including Arvind Singh of the Royal family Chittor, historian KK Singh, IGNOU and Chandramani Singh and all three unanimously have said that the film should not be up in theatres.Demanding the nationwide ban on the movie, Karni Sena has also said that there are many reactions going out of proportion in different states and that does not mean Karni Sena was behind all.
He said that,'do not go on words and try to understand the emotions of the people that has took a hit.He further said that post Independence this was for the first time that such a controversy arose regarding a film.(UNI)
