Mumbai: Bollywood's 'Dabangg' star Salman Khan may soon collaborate with filmmaker Apoorva Lakhia for an upcoming feature reportedly based on the 2020 Galwan Valley confrontation between India and Chinese forces.

Following the underwhelming box office performance of "Sikandar", directed by A R Murugadoss, Khan has been meticulously reviewing a range of prospective projects.

Sources reveal that he was particularly drawn to the concept and screenplay presented by Lakhia.

The upcoming film, reportedly inspired by Shiv Aroor and Rahul Singh's critically acclaimed work "India's Most Fearless 3", will delve into the courageous exploits of India's armed forces. Salman is expected to portray an Indian Army officer, marking significant departure from his usual larger-than-life screen persona and signalling a more nuanced, patriotic role.

Principal photography is scheduled to take place in Ladakh and Mumbai, with a 20-day shooting stint planned in the rugged terrains of Ladakh. After this, followed by an extensive 50-day shoot in Mumbai.

The makers also intend three debutant actors, with the casting process already underway. Apoorva Lakhia is preparing for an imminent location recce in Ladakh in the next two weeks, while also finalising the technical team.

If formalised, this high-stakes action drama will most likely be Salman Khan's next release.
