Mumbai: After a lukewarm response to Kabir Khan's 'Tubelight', which has earned just Rs 120 crore at the box office till now, belying the huge expectations from the film, Bollywood superstar Salman Khan has decided to compensate the distributors for their losses, trade sources said.'Salman Khan has agreed to refund monies to distributors to make up for losses in Tubelight.

A lovely gesture. That's being humane ! 'trade analyst Komal Nahata said. The sources said that Salman agreed to pay to the distributors of the film after some of them met him in Mumbai to call on him to compensate for their losses.Released on the occasion of Eid, the film, despite getting rave reviews for its emotional message about the futility of war and the performance by Salman, met with a lukewarm response at the box office, belying the monumental expectations from the film.

'Tubelight' till now has collected approximately 120 crore at the domestic box office, which is quite low for a Salman Khan film.Naturally, the distributors have suffered huge losses.Salman will next be seen in 'Tiger Zinda Hai', believed to be a sequel to the 2012 hit 'Ek Tha Tuger'.The film, currently being shot in Morocco, also stars Katrina Kaif.Trade sources feel that 'Tiger Zinda Hai' will make up for the loses suffered by 'Tubelight' considering that 'Ek Tha Tiger' earned Rs 198 crore at the box office.(UNI)
