Sushant Singh Rajput case: SC orders CBI probe, asks Maha Police to hand over evidences collected so far

New Delhi: Supreme Court in its order on Wednesday directed for a CBI probe into the mysterious death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput.
“We direct for a CBI enquiry into the case,” a single-judge bench of the Apex Court, comprising Justice Hrishikesh Roy passed the judgement.
The Apex Court asked the Mumbai Police to hand over all the evidences collected so far in the case to the CBI and ordered the Maharashtra Government to assist the CBI in the investigation.
CBI is also free to register a fresh case if required, the Apex Court said in its verdict.
The Apex Court passed the verdict through videoconferencing. The lawyers, parties and respondents were present before the Apex Court through respective video conferencing modes to hear the judgement.
The top court had on August 11 reserved its judgement after hearing from the petitioner and respondent and all other appropriate parties in the case.
The petitioner, Rhea Chakraborty had earlier moved the Apex Court seeking a direction to transfer the FIR lodged in Patna to Mumbai, citing that the Mumbai police has the jurisdiction and authority to investigate the death of Sushant Singh Rajput case. (UNI)
