The investigation has revealed some shocking information about the owner of phone which was used to give death threats against Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan.
Bandra police station in Mumbai had received a call from a person who threatened to kill Shah Rukh Khan and demanded Rs 50 lakh from him.
Official said that Police has registered an FIR under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita sections 308(4) and 351 (3)(4), related to extortion and criminal intimidation and during investigation police found that the call came from a mobile number registered in the name of a lawyer Faizan Khan from Raipur, Chhattisgarh.
Mumbai Police team reached Raipur for further investigation. Authorities are now working with Raipur police to track down the actual caller as the lawyer claimed his phone had been stolen three days before the threat call was made and that he had filed a first information report (FIR) with the Raipur police regarding the lost device.
The lawyer had earlier complained to Mumbai Police against Shah Rukh Khan over a dialogue in his movie Anjaam (1994) that referred to deer hunting.
“I hail from Rajasthan. The Bishnoi community (which is from Rajasthan) is my friend. It is in their religion to protect deer. So, if a Muslim says something like this about deer, it is condemnable. Therefore, I raised an objection,” Faizan Khan was quoted as saying by news agency PTI.
“Whoever has made a call from my phone, it seems intentional. I think it is a conspiracy against me,” he added.
After death threat, the police has increased the security outside Shah Rukh Khan house who reside in the jurisdiction of Bandra Police at Carter Road.
