New Delhi:The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has sent a legal notice to the makers of the web series "Grahan" shot in the backdrop of 1984 anti-Sikh riots. The committee alleged that the facts have been twisted which has ended up hurting the Sikh community. The producers of the web series and the head of Hotstar have been served legal notice in this regard.
The lawyer Harpreet Singh Hora stated that the genocide claimed the lives of many Sikh men, women and children. The 1984 victims Nirpreet Kaur, Satnam Singh Gambhir and Jasmeet Singh who have witnessed the bloodbath have sought an apology from the makers.

As per the sources, the matter escalated when a turban-wearing man portrayed as Sikh was shown as the main instigator of the riots that broke out after the demise of the then prime minister Indira Gandhi.

After the news broke a demand to ban the web series was seen on social media with #bangrahanwebseries. Many took to the micro-blogging website and supported Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee.(WD)
