The deepening war crisis in West Asia has begun affecting not only civilians but also prominent figures from Bollywood and the sports world. Following reported missile strikes on Iran by the United States and Israel, the situation in the region has turned extremely tense. In retaliation, Iran has reportedly launched missile attacks targeting several Gulf nations, escalating fears across the region.
Flight operations in Dubai and several other Gulf countries have been suspended amid the rising tensions. In this backdrop, Bollywood actress Sonal Chauhan has revealed that she is stranded in Dubai.
Taking to social media platform X, Chauhan shared her ordeal and appealed directly to Narendra Modi for assistance.
In her post, she wrote:
“Honourable Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji, I am currently stranded in Dubai amid the ongoing crisis. All flights have been cancelled, and there is no clear way to return to India. I request the government’s guidance and assistance for a safe return home.”
Hon’ble PM @narendramodi ji,
I am currently stranded in Dubai due to the ongoing crisis, with flights cancelled and no clear way to return to India. I respectfully seek the Government’s guidance for a safe journey home
Grateful for any support extended@MEAIndia@IndiainDubai
Chauhan has also reportedly reached out to India’s Ministry of External Affairs and the Indian Embassy in Dubai. She was in the UAE for a professional shoot when the crisis intensified.
PV Sindhu Also Stranded
Sonal Chauhan is not the only Indian celebrity affected. Star badminton player PV Sindhu is also stranded at Dubai airport. Sindhu was en route to Birmingham for the prestigious All England Open Badminton Championships, with Dubai serving as her transit stop.
Reports indicate that partial damage occurred at a terminal of Dubai International Airport due to missile debris, leading to a complete suspension of airport operations.
Explosions and plumes of smoke were reportedly seen near iconic landmarks such as Palm Jumeirah and Burj Al Arab. While the United Arab Emirates’ defense systems reportedly intercepted several missiles mid-air, authorities have closed the airspace indefinitely as a precautionary measure.
The rapidly evolving situation has left thousands of passengers stranded, with uncertainty looming over when normal flight services will resume.
