“Sonu ke Titu ki Sweety” takes a huge lead over “Welcome to Newyork” in first weekend

Mumbai: Basking on the "Pyar ka Punchnama" star cast and Luv Ranjan’s direction “Sonu ke Titu ki Sweety” has taken a huge lead over “Welcome to Newyork” in the first weekend. The movie started well with a collection of 6.42, followed by 9.34 crore on Saturday. The movie collected a handsome amount of 10. 81 crore on Sunday. Thus, the gross collection of the movie is 26.57 crore. The weekend collections are the third biggest in this year so far after Padmaavat and Padman. The movie requires to collect 56 crore at box office to become a Hit movie.
However the same cannot be said for Sonakshi and Diljeet Dosnjh’s multistarrer “Welcome to Newyork” Despite a beeline of guest appearances by celebrities, the movie fails to impress the critics and the public. The movie collected a meagre amount of 75 lakhs on Friday, 70 Lakhs on Saturday. Even on Sunday the movie collected an amount of 75 Lakhs. Thus, the gross collection of the movie is 2.20 crore in the first weekend.(WD)
