Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan has praised veteran actor Anil Kapoor for his performance in the action drama Subedaar, saying he “thoroughly enjoyed” the film and applauding Kapoor’s dedication to his craft.
Taking to X, Shah Rukh Khan shared his appreciation for the project and highlighted Kapoor’s restrained yet impactful portrayal in the film. The actor said Kapoor continues to deliver powerful performances in every role he takes on.
“Thoroughly enjoyed Subedaar. You can always count on Anil Kapoor to give it his all, a restrained yet effective performance. His dedication to the craft is inspiring, and the action was so good!!!” Shah Rukh Khan wrote in his post.
The film has also received praise from several members of the film industry. Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap earlier shared his appreciation for the film on Instagram, noting that it was clearly designed for a theatrical experience.
Kashyap wrote that the film, now streaming on Amazon Prime Video, appeared to be shot in anamorphic format for the big screen. He also praised director Suresh Triveni for creating an immersive world set in the Bundelkhand–Chambal region, capturing the complexities of its social structure and deeply rooted patriarchy.
Subedaar follows the story of Subedaar Arjun Maurya, a retired soldier who returns home and struggles to adjust to civilian life. Set in Madhya Pradesh, the film portrays his battle against corruption in his region while navigating a strained relationship with his daughter Shyama, played by Radhika Madan. As tensions escalate, Arjun relies on his military training to protect his family.
Along with Anil Kapoor and Radhika Madan, the film also features Khushbu Sundar, Saurabh Shukla, Aditya Rawal, Mona Singh and Faisal Malik in key roles.
Directed by Suresh Triveni, Subedaar premiered on Amazon Prime Video on March 5.
