“Plea filed for media publicity”, Delhi HC quashes Juhi Chawla's petition on 5G, imposes 20 lakh fine

New Delhi: The Delhi High Court on Friday junked the plea filed by Bollywood actor Juhi Chawla against the rollout of 5G technology in the country, stating that the plea was filed for media publicity.
The Bench of Justice JR Midha also imposed a cost of Rs 20 lakh on the actor and others for abusing and misusing the process of law.
The court came down heavily on the petitioners, saying the plea had been stuffed with unnecessary and frivoulous material where the plaintiff does not have any knowledge about the facts.
During the virtual hearing on Wednesday, an unidentified person had disrupted proceedings of the court three times by singing songs from popular movies of Juhi Chawla.
Issuing show cause notice of contempt against the mischief-maker, the bench said, Delhi Police shall identify the person and take action against those who created disruption.
Juhi's plea alleged that 5G technology threatens to provoke serious radiation impact on humans and permanent damage to natural ecosystems.
It also sought direction from the authorities to certify to the public at large that how 5G technology is safe for humans, animals, and every type of living organism, flora, and fauna. (UNI)
