New Delhi: The Delhi High Court on Thursday issued summons to Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev on a petition filed by Delhi Medical Association (DMA).

The DMA submitted that Patanjali, the company of Baba Ramdev is propagating false information about its Coronil kit that it is a cure for the Covid-19 disease.

In a video circulating in social media was seen Ramdev saying allopathy is a "stupid science" and later on this comment the Indian Medical Association has taken a strong objection.

Delhi Medical Association submitted through the suit that the statement of Baba Ramdev in public is damaging the reputations of science and doctors.

The Court observed if I feel some science is fake ...do you mean they will file a suit against me?... It is a public opinion...Ramdev is a person ...he doesn't have faith in allopathy.

He believes everything can be cured by Yoga and Ayurveda. A person may hold opinions for which a suit cannot be filed against him.

Delhi High Court Justice C Hari Shankar after hearing submissions on behalf of the Medical Association refused to restrain Baba Ramdev from making any statements against allopathic medicines that the averments were just an ‘opinion’.

The High Court also instructed the counsel of Ramdev orally to tell him not to make any provocative statement till the next date of the hearing and adjourned the matter for filing the reply and for further hearing on July 13. (UNI)
