COVID-19: For 4th consecutive day, India reports less than 30K cases

New Delhi: India logged 27,176 new cases and 284 deaths due to the Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, the union health ministry said on Wednesday.
This is the fourth consecutive day that India recorded less than 30,000 cases in a day.
On Tuesday, 25,404 cases were recorded, 27,254 on Monday while 28,591 on Sunday.
The latest addition has pushed the cumulative case tally to 3,33,16,755, whereas the death toll has climbed to 4,43,497 according to the data.
The daily positivity rate of the infection was recorded at 1.69 per cent in the country while the active cases have remained under 3.6 lakh after declining by 11,120 cases, as per the health ministry's bulletin.
The cumulative active caseload now stands at 3,51,087. The share of active cases now stands at 1.05 per cent of the total Covid-19 cases, the figures showed.
Meanwhile, 38,012 more people recovered from the Covid-19 in the last 24 hours making the recovery registry climb to 3,25,22,171. As per the data, the recovery rate stands at 97.62 per cent
The union ministry stated that the weekly positivity rate (2 per cent) has been under 3 per cent for 82 days now.
A total of 54,60,55,796 samples were tested up to September 14, 2021, for Covid-19. Of these, 16,10,829 samples were tested on Tuesday, according to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR).
Meanwhile, the Covid-19 vaccination coverage has reached close to 76 crore
"More than 61 lakh (61,15,690) vaccine doses have been administered on Tuesday making the country’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage reach a cumulative figure of 75.89 crore (75,89,12,277) as per provisional reports," the ministry said. (UNI)
