COVID-19: India adds 41,195 new cases, active cases rise again

New Delhi: As many as 41,195 people tested positive for the novel coronavirus in the country during the past 24 hours, taking the cumulative tally of cases to 3,20,77,706 while 490 succumbed in the same period.
The fresh fatalities mounted the death toll to 4,29,669.
According to the Union Health Ministry, the active cases rose by 1,636, to stand at 3,86,351. It is now 1.21 per cent of the total caseload.
On the recovery front, 39,069 patients were cured and discharged, taking the total recovery count to 3,12,60,050, which is 97.45 per cent of the case tally. The fatality rate remained steady at 1.34 per cent.
Meanwhile, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) said that a total of 48,73,70,196 samples have been tested so far for coronavirus. Of this, 21,24,953 were tested on Wednesday.
Till now, 52,36,71,019 people have been administered COVID-19 vaccines, with 44,19,627 being inoculated against the virus in the past 24 hours. (UNI)
