COVID-19: India logs over 1.5 lakh new cases in last 24 hrs, Omicron tally reaches 3,623

New Delhi: India has reported over 1.5 lakh daily cases in last 24 hours, taking the total number of active cases to 5,90,611, the Union Ministry of Health said on Sunday.
The country has registered 1,59,632 new Covid-19 cases and 327 deaths, taking the total tally to 4,83,790. The daily positivity rate stood at 10.21 per cent.
Meanwhile 40,863 recoveries were recorded in the last 24 hours taking the total recovered cases to 3,44,53,603, data said.
India's Omicron tally has reached 3,623, of which, 1,409 have been discharged.
Maharashtra topped the count with 1,009 cases, followed by Delhi (513), Karnataka (441) and Rajasthan (373).
According to the bulletin, 69 crore tests for Covid-19 have been done so far.
It further stated that 151.58 doses of Covid-19 vaccines have been given so far under the ongoing nationwide vaccination drive.
More than 155.95 crores vaccine doses were provided to States/UTs so far.
The Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) has announced a relaxation in the weekend curfew norms on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Guru Gobind Singh on Sunday.
According an order issued by the authority, devotees will be permitted to visit and offer prayers at Gurudwaras on Sunday.
Meanwhile, Delhi reported more than 20,000 cases of coronavirus disease on Saturday, according to the daily bulletin by the state health department. The positivity rate has now climbed to 19.6 per cent, the health department data added. (UNI)
