COVID-19: India logs over 20.5K cases, 70 deaths in last 24 hrs

New Delhi: India registered 20,551 new Covid-19 cases, the Health Ministry said on Friday.
According to the bulletin issued by the Ministry, the total caseload rose to 4,41,07,588 while the death toll rose to 5,26,600 as 70 more succumbed to the disease. After April, this is the first time that death figures have surged.
On a positive note, 21,595 people recovered from the disease, taking the tally to 4,34,45,624. The recovery rate stands at 98.50 per cent.
The active caseload stands at 1,35,364, the figures showed.
As per the bulletin, 87.71 crore tests for Covid-19 have been done so far.
India has administered 205.59 crore doses of Covid-19 vaccine so far under the ongoing nationwide vaccination drive. (UNI)
