COVID-19: India records 41,157 fresh cases, 518 related deaths in last 24 hrs

New Delhi: India recorded 41,157 new cases of COVID-19 during the past 24 hours pushing the case tally to 3,11,06,065, while the death toll mounted to 4,13,609 with 518 more fatalities, the Union Health Ministry said on Sunday.
According to the Ministry, the active cases declined by 1,365 to stand at 4,22,660. It is now 1.36 per cent of the total caseload.
The past 24 hours saw 42,004 people recovering from the deadly virus, taking the total recovery count to 3,02,69,796, which is 97.31 per cent of the case tally. The fatality rate stood at 1.33 per cent.
The daily positivity has remained less than 3 per cent for the last 27 days. It was recorded at 2.13 per cent in the past one day.
Of the fresh fatalities, maximum 124 were reported from Maharashtra followed by 114 in Kerala, 67 in Odisha, 43 in Tamil Nadu, 42 in Karnataka, 23 in Assam and so on.
Meanwhile, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) said that a total of 44,39,58,663 samples have been tested so far for coronavirus. Of this, 19,36,709 were tested on Saturday.
Till now, 40,49,31,715 people have been administered COVID-19 vaccines, with 51,01,567 being inoculated against the virus in the past 24 hours. (UNI)
