COVID-19: India registers 14,146 new cases, lowest in 299 days

New Delhi: India on Sunday registered 14,146 COVID-19 cases, lowest in 299 days, taking the cumulative tally in the country to 3,40,67,719 while the number of deaths climbed to 4,52,124 with 144 more fatalities, according to the Union Health Ministry's data on Sunday.

The recovery rate touched 98.10 per cent, said the Ministry, as 19,788 patients recovered from the virus in the last 24 hours taking the cumulative tally of recovered patients to 3,34,19,749.

“The Active Caseload falls below 2 lakh mark and is presently at 1,95,846, which is lowest in 220 days. Active cases presently constitute 0.57 per cent of the country's total positive cases.

“The daily positivity rate is 1.29 per cent, which is less than 3 per cent for last 48 days, whereas weekly positivity rate is 1.42 per cent which also remains less than 3 per cent for the last 114 days now,” the Ministry reported.

In the last 24 hours, India administered 41,20,772 vaccine doses as the coverage exceeded 97.65 Crore landmark as per provisional reports till 0700 hours Sunday,” the Ministry said.

The data suggested that, more than 101.7 crore doses have been provided to States/UTs so far through the direct state procurement category. “More than 10.42 Crore, balance and unutilized Covid vaccine doses are still available with the States/UTs to be administered,” the data said. (UNI)
