COVID-19: India reports 11,850 new cases, 555 deaths and 12,403 recoveries

New Delhi: India recorded 11,850 new COVID-19 cases and 555 fatalities during the past 24 hours, said the latest update by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Saturday.
Addition of these new fatalities took the country's overall death count to 463,245, added the Ministry.
The recovery rate has now touched 98.26 per cent, and 12,403 patients recovered during the past 24 hours taking the cumulative tally of recovered patient tally to 3,38,26 483.
The Active Caseload is below the two lakh mark and is presently at 1,36,308 which is lowest in 267 days. Active cases presently constitute 0.40 per cent of the country's total Positive Cases since 2020 March.
“The daily positivity rate is 0.94 per cent, which is less than two per cent for last 40 days, whereas weekly positivity rate is 1.05 per cent which also remains less than two per cent for the last 50 days now,” the Ministry reported.
The testing capacity across the country continues to be expanded. India has so far conducted over 62.23 crore tests across the country.
With the administration of 58,42,530 vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 111.40 crores, said the Ministry.
“More than 123 crore vaccine doses have been provided to States/UTs so far through direct state procurement category,” it said. (UNI)
