COVID-19: India reports 39,070 new cases and 491 fatalities in last 24 hrs

New Delhi: India confirmed a single-day rise of 39,070 new coronavirus cases and 491 fatalities, the Union health ministry said on Sunday.
With the fresh addition, the overall infection tally of the country has now spiked to 3,19,34,455 and death count has climbed to 4,27,862.
The active cases in the country have declined to 4,06,822 and comprise 1.27 per cent of the total infections, while the COVID-19 recovery rate was recorded at 97.39 per cent as total 3,10,99,771 recoveries were registered today, the ministry data showed.
According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), 17,22,221 tests were conducted during the same period, taking the total cumulative tests conducted so far for detection of COVID-19 to 48,00,39,185.
The daily positivity rate, which has been less than three per cent for the last 13 days was recorded at 2.27 per cent today, the health ministry said, adding that the weekly positivity rate was recorded at 2.38 per cent.
On the vaccination front, the government release on Sunday mentioned administering 50,68,10,492 doses of Covid-19 vaccines so far, with 55,91,657 people being vaccinated in the last 24 hours. (UNI)
